About Image_compactness

Image_compactness is an analysis export variable available in exported integration analyses when the schools detection module is licensed.

It provides a measure of the shape of a school represented by a region on an echogram (-).

The image compactness is a statistic which measures the ratio between the perimeter (squared) of the observed school to the area of the observed school. A circle has an image compactness of 1.

See Schools detection module algorithms for a mathematical definition.

This variable is exported only if it is selected on the Export page of the EV File Properties dialog box.

Note: If the region being analyzed extends beyond the range of the available GPS data, the special export value "-1" will be exported as the Image_compactness value.
