Vertical_roughness_coefficient is an analysis export variable available in exported integration analyses when the schools detection module is licensed.
It provides a measure of the variation of Sv with range in a school represented by a region on an echogram (dB re 1m2/m3), as defined by Nero and Magnuson (1989)
The vertical roughness coefficient is a statistic used to measure the dispersion of acoustic energy within the school in the vertical direction. It provides an index of the distribution of more and less dense patches within the school and/or of larger and smaller individuals (fish) within the school.
See Schools detection module algorithms for a mathematical definition.
This variable is exported only if it is selected on the Export page of the EV File Properties dialog box.
