Fish track editing functions fall into two categories:
You should be familiar with the following details about fish track editing before completing any of the tasks described on this page:
You must select the Fish track tool
to complete most fish track editing tasks. This tool is only available on the toolbar when a single target echogram is in focus.
If you are making a selection around fish track(s), the top mid-point of the right most single target in the required fish track(s) must be contained within the selection.
If you are making a selection around individual target(s), the top mid-point of the required target(s) must be contained within the selection.
To delete multiple fish tracks:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Make a rectangular selection that includes the tracks you wish to delete.
Note: If you delete fish track(s) by mistake, you can restore them by clicking the Undo
button, or pressing CTRL+Z.
To merge two or more fish tracks:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Make a rectangular selection that includes the fish tracks you wish to merge.
On the Shortcut menu (right-click), click Merge fish tracks.
- OR -
Press the M key.
To create a fish track from a selection of single targets:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Make a rectangular selection that includes the targets.
On the Shortcut menu (right-click), click Create fish track from targets.
To add one target to a selected fish track:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Select a fish track.
Note: The selected fish track will be displayed with a thicker region border.
Right-click on the target you wish to add to the select fish track.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Add target.
To add more than one target to a fish track at the same time:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Select a fish track.
Note: The selected fish track will be displayed with a thicker region border.
Draw a rectangular selection around the targets you want to add to the selected track.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Add targets to fish track.
- OR -
Press the G key.
To remove a target from a fish track:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Select a fish track.
Move the mouse pointer over the target you wish to remove.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Remove target.
To remove a series of targets from a fish track:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Select a fish track.
Draw a rectangular selection around the targets you wish to remove from the track.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Remove targets from fish track
- OR -
Press the H key.
To delete a single fish track:
Select a fish track.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Delete Region.
- OR -
Press DELETE.
To merge two fish tracks:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Select a fish track.
Move the mouse pointer over the fish track you wish to merge with the selected fish track.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Merge fish tracks
- OR -
Press theM key.
Note: This option is only available if a single fish track region can be identified. If you right-click on overlapping regions, the option will not be displayed.
Note: It is also possible to merge two fish tracks by drawing a selection around them, and on the Shortcut menu (right-click) clicking Merge fish tracks.
To split a fish track:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Select the fish track you wish to split.
Move the mouse pointer over the point at which you wish to split the fish track.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Split fish track.
The first fish track will contain all targets before the splitting point, the second track will contain all targets beyond the splitting point.
If you have regions defined on your single target echogram that are not fish track regions (that is, they are marker, analysis or bad data regions) it is possible to convert them to fish track regions as long as they only have one target per ping within each ping in the region.
To convert a region to a fish track:
Click the Fish track tool
(if not already selected).
Select the region you wish to convert to a fish track.
On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Convert to fish track.
