From Echoview 4.40, this program is no longer distributed or supported.
Before starting Echosim SM you must:
Ensure that all files use the following SM2000 FR naming convention.
Files names are generated based on the current time and date, and the first file of a recording session has the form:
|
File name convention |
File type |
|
YYMDDLLL.raw |
Raw files |
|
YYMDDLLL.bfm or YYMDDLLL.bmf |
Beamformed files |
Where:
YY is a 2 digit number representing the year
M is a single letter representing the month (A = January, B = February etc)
DD is a 2 digit number representing the date of the month
LLL is a 3 digit number representing the line number, which starts at 001 and is incremented with each new recording session.
For example, the file 99A27001.raw was the first file created on January 27, 1999.
When the file size reaches a user-defined threshold a new file is created with an identical name and a 3 digit number as the file extension. For example a file recording session may produced the following files 99A27001.raw, 99A27001.001, 99A27001.002, 99A27001.003.
You must have Echolog SM running on the computer that will log the data before you configure and use Echosim SM.
Start Echosim SM from the Windows Start menu.
To configure Echosim SM:
In the Read from folder box, enter or choose the folder that contains the SM2000 FR *.raw, *.bfm, *.bmf and *.nnn files with which you wish to simulate live viewing. Echosim SM will read the files in the Read from folder and create new data files as if it was the SM2000 FR hearing data from the echosounder.
In the Survey folder box, enter or choose the folder in which Echosim SM will create the new .SM2000 files. Echosim SM will write files (.raw, .bfm, .bmf and .nnn) to the Survey folder as if it was the SM2000 FR logging data. The new files will be time-stamped with the current date and time, not the date and time of the original data.
Note: The Survey folder must be the same survey folder identified in the Echolog SM Settings dialog box.
In the Pings per second box, set the speed of output from Echosim SM.
To simulate live viewing of SM2000 FR data files using Echosim SM:
