Raw variables derived from Kongsberg data files

This page describes the variables that Echoview can derive from data files logged by Kongsberg echosounders.

Note: Simrad is a subsidiary of Kongsberg. See also Raw variables derived from Simrad data files.

Data files containing EM 3002 data (.all) or EM 710 data (.all)

Echoview can derive the following variables from .all files:

• unspecified dB pings

• Sv pings

• position GPS fixes

• heading data

The Sv variable contains Sv data derived for the intensities of the unspecified dB variable as described in Multibeam Magnitudes to Sv.

Data files containing EM 3002D data (.all)

Echoview can derive the following variables from .all files:

• unspecified dB pings

• unspecified dB pings (Head 2)

• Sv pings

• Sv pings (Head 2)

• position GPS fixes

• heading data

The Sv variable contains Sv data derived for the intensities of the unspecified dB variable as described in Multibeam Magnitudes to Sv.

Data files containing MS 1000 data (.smb / .nnn)

Echoview can derive the following variables from .smb files:

• magnitude beamformed pings

• Sv beamformed pings

• position GPS fixes

• heading data

Data files containing SM20 data (.smb / .nnn)

Echoview can derive the following variables from .smb files:

• phase raw beam pings

• phase beamformed raw beam pings

• magnitude raw beam pings

• magnitude beamformed raw beam pings

• Sv beamformed raw beam pings

• position GPS fixes

• roll data

• heading data
