Export and copy to image files

Echoview allows you to export and copy echograms and cruise track to image formats that can opened in or directly pasted into other applications.

Exporting an echogram to an image file

To export an echogram (or part thereof) to an image file:

  1. Make a selection using the Rectangle tool rectangle tool.

    Note:
    You can extend a selection past the visible portion of a window by holding down the left mouse button and scrolling using the keyboard shortcuts.
  1. On the Shortcut (right-click) menu , point to Export Selection, then click To Image File.
  2. In the Export Selection to Image File dialog box:
    1. choose a folder in which to save the file,
    2. in the File name box, enter a name for the file, and
    3. in the Save as type box, choose an image file format
  1. Click Save.

Exporting a cruise track to an image file

To export a cruise track (or part thereof) to an image file:

  1. Do one of the following:
  2. To export the entire cruise track; on the Shortcut (right-click) menu , point to Export Window then click To Image file.
  3. To export a selection from the cruise track; make a selection using the default mouse tool, then on the Shortcut (right-click) menu , point to Export Selection and then click To Image file.

    Note:
    You can extend a selection past the visible portion of a window by holding down the left mouse button and scrolling using the keyboard shortcuts.
  1. In the Export Window to Image File dialog box:
    1. choose a folder in which to save the file,
    2. in the File name box, enter a name for the file, and
    3. in the Save as type box, choose an image file format (see below for information about georeferencing information that will be exported with each file type).
  2. Click Save.

Georeferencing information exported with the cruise tracks

When you export a selection from a cruise track, Echoview may also export georeferencing information.

If you export a cruise track to a ...

Echoview writes georeferencing information...

.tiff file

to an ESRI world file with the same name as the .tiff file but with a .tiffw extension

.tif file

to an ESRI world file with the same name as the .tif file but with a .tfw extension

GeoTIFF file (.tif or .tiff)

by embedding it in headers in the TIFF file

.jpg file

to an ESRI world file with the same name as the .jpg file but with a .jgw extension

.jpeg file

to an ESRI world file of the same name as the .jpeg file but with a .jpegw extension

.bmp (24 bit or 8 bit)

Not applicable - Echoview does not write georeferencing information for this format

Copying an echogram to the Windows clipboard

You can copy an echogram (or part thereof) to the Windows clipboard as an image that can be pasted directly into other applications.

To copy an echogram to the clipboard:

  1. Make a selection using the Rectangle tool rectangle tool.

    Note:
    You can extend selections past the visible portion of a window by holding down the left mouse button and scrolling using the keyboard shortcuts.
  1. On the Shortcut (right-click) menu , click Copy.

Copying a cruise track to the Windows clipboard

You can copy selections from echogram and cruise tracks to the Windows clipboard for pasting into other applications.

To copy a selection to the clipboard:

  1. Do one of the following:
  1. On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, click Copy.
