Several context-sensitive pages in the Variable Properties dialog box are displayed for virtual variables. The pages that are displayed depend on the operator that was used to create the virtual variables.
One or more of the following virtual variable pages will be present if Convolution operators are used:
3x3 Convolution page
5x5 Convolution page
7x7 Convolution page
XxY Convoltion page
The 3x3 Convolution page is displayed on the Variable Properties dialog box if the 3x3 convolution operator has been applied to create the selected virtual variable.
It is used to specify the 9 values of the 3x3 convolution matrix.
For details on how convolutions are applied in Echoview see Convolution algorithms.
The 5x5 Convolution page is displayed on the Variable Properties dialog box if the 5x5 convolution operator has been applied to create the selected virtual variable.
It is used to specify the 25 values of the 5x5 convolution matrix.
For details on how convolutions are applied in Echoview see Convolution algorithms.
The 7x7 Convolution page is displayed on the Variable Properties dialog box if the 7x7 Convolution operator has been applied to create the selected virtual variable.
It is used to specify the 49 values of the 7x7 convolution matrix.
For details on how convolutions are applied in Echoview see Convolution algorithms.
The XxY Convolution page is displayed on the Variable Properties dialog box if the XxY Convolution operator has been applied to create the selected virtual variable.
It is used to specify the convolution algorithm and the size of the convolution window.

Setting |
Description |
|
Algorithm |
Select a convolution algorithm to use. |
|
Rows (samples) |
Specifies the row size of the convolution window. The row value is restricted to an odd number, between 1 and 999, and spans sample space. |
|
Columns (pings) |
Specifies the column size of the convolution window. The column value is restricted to an odd number, between 1 and 999, and spans ping space. |
|
Calculations per sample |
Displays the number of calculations per sample. This number is based on the specified Row and Column settings. Although you can set Row and Column to any odd number between 1 and 999, it has been found that this operator's performance decreases as the product of these settings increases. A warning is displayed when the value for the Calculations per sample is greater than 1000. |
