Single target detection operators

Several context-sensitive pages in the Variable Properties dialog box are displayed for virtual variables. The pages that are displayed depend on the operator that was used to create the virtual variables.

The following virtual variable page will be present if Single target detection operators have been used:

Single Target Detection page

The Single target detection page is displayed on the Variable Properties dialog box if a Single target detection operator has been applied to create the selected virtual variable.

The Single target detection parameters section varies depending on which single target detection operator is applied. See Single target detection algorithms for a description of which settings are available for each operator and how these are used.

Note: TVG and TVG range correction can affect the suitability of an Echoview single target detection method for your data. For more information refer to:

The Exclusion section is used to select lines to limit targets and minimize processing.

Description

Exclude targets above line

These are analogous to the Exclude-above and Exclude-below lines used on the Analysis page.

The difference is that the exclusions on this page are applied before the echogram is displayed (affecting the number of targets displayed) and those on the Analysis page are applied after the echogram is displayed (affecting the on-screen and exported analyses). See About setting variable properties for an illustration of which pages apply when.

Notes:

If the chosen operator uses a single, split or dual-beam (method 2) algorithm, the TVG range correction method used by that algorithm is specified on the Calibration page for the operator and is initially inherited from the Calibration page of the operand.

If you are familiar with Single target detection (or TS-Detection) on Simrad echosounders, see Simrad and Echoview single target detection terminology for a comparison of the terms used.
