About target properties

Target properties are measurable or calculable attributes of detected targets. Targets can be those detected in multibeam data or single targets detected in single beam data. Echoview supports a variety of display, output and analysis options that can be configured for specific target properties.

Target properties are estimated after or when you create a virtual variable. The chain of virtual variables varies and depends on the type of data you work with and which target properties you wish to display.

Targets can be thresholded by their properties prior to display, output and analysis. Target property values can also be substituted for TS values for display purposes.

Target properties from single beam data

Target length can be calculated, output and analyzed for single targets detected in single beam data. Target length is calculated using the Target length calculator algorithm. See Target length from single beam data.

Target properties from multibeam data

A variety of multibeam target properties can be calculated or measured, then output for display and analysis. See Target_properties_from_multibeam_data for more details.

Note: To view specified multibeam data under targets, use the Multibeam target overlay operator.
