Tritech Gemini data files
Echoview supports imaging sonar data recorded by Tritech Gemini sonars in the Genesis Log File (.glf) format.
Supported Tritech Gemini models include:
- Gemini 720is
- Gemini 720iks
- MicronGemini 720s
- Gemini 1200ikd
Notes:
- Echoview reads multibeam imaging sonar data from Genesis Log Files. Other data that may be recorded in a GLF file, including GPS position, heading, pitch and roll, are not currently supported.
- Uncompressed and ZLib-compressed imaging sonar data are supported. H264-compressed imaging sonar data are not supported.
- Each unique Gemini imaging device encountered in a GLF file is represented by a separate raw variable in Echoview.
- The sound speed recorded with each image sonar packet is used by Echoview.
- For recognized Gemini models, Echoview determines the acoustic frequency from the device model and the frequency mode of each ping. Data recorded at different frequencies can produce separate transducers. No acoustic frequency is provided when the device model is not recognized.
Genesis Log Files
A Genesis Log File (.glf) is a compressed archive created by Tritech Genesis software. A GLF archive contains recorded sensor data and associated configuration information. The sensor data are stored internally in a .dat file.
Echoview reads Gemini multibeam sonar records from the .dat data contained within the GLF archive. Configuration information stored elsewhere in the GLF archive is not currently used by Echoview.
Adding files to a fileset
Add the .glf file directly to an Echoview fileset. Echoview reads supported Gemini imaging sonar data contained within the file.
Raw variables
Each unique Gemini imaging device encountered in a GLF file produces a separate raw variable. When multiple imaging devices are present, the variables are identified as T1, T2, and so on, in the order in which the devices are first encountered in the file.
Compression
Genesis imaging sonar data may be stored without compression or using ZLib or H264 compression. Echoview supports uncompressed and ZLib-compressed image data. H264-compressed image data are not supported.
