New for users of data from Furuno echosounders

This page summarizes the new features, improvements and other changes that have been implemented in Echoview 12 and 12.1 which specifically affect the use of data from Furuno echosounders.

Furuno FCV-38 *.nc file format

Introducing support for Furuno FCV-38 split beam echosounder data recorded to the netCDF4 *.nc file format.

New in 12.1: Fixed a bug that affected the exported GPS values from Furuno FCV-38 variables. Echoview has changed the precision when handling GPS values.

New in 12.1: The transducer numbering has changed for variables derived from Furuno FCV-38 data files. You may need to reconnect operators to variables created from these files, and confirm the correct calibration is being applied.

Furuno FSV-25 *.nc file format

New in 12.1: Introducing support for Furuno FSV-25 scanning sonar data recorded to the netCDF4 *.nc file format.

Furuno FSV-30 (Research version) *.fsv file format

New in 12.1: Introducing support for Furuno FSV-30 (Research version) data recorded to the *.fsv file format.

Furuno FSV-30 (Research version) *.fsv support may not replicate previously supported Furuno FSV-30 (Research version) raw variables or composite variables. EV files saved in Echoview version 4.9 or earlier that include Furuno FSV-30 (Research version) variables may display unavailable variables and different calibration settings. As a result, such pre-existing EV files may need to be reviewed and updated.

Export *.fsv data to the*.nc file format

New in 12.1: Echoview introduces the export of Furuno FSV-30 (Research version) Sv data to the *.nc file format, which can be then be added to a fileset. The export is supported by the COM methods EvFile.ExportToIcesNetcdfAll and EvVariableAcoustic.ExportToIcesNetcdf.

Computation precision for netCDF4

New in 12.1: Echoview's netCDF4 file format start and stop range calculations have changed. Minor differences in values between Echoview versions 12 and 12.1 affect FCV-38 *.nc and FSV-25 *.nc data.

The precision limitations of the netCDF4 file format also affect the match of start and stop ranges, and data values for FSV-30 (Research version) .fsv data exported to the *.nc format.
