Exporting regions log book data

Regions log files suitable to act as a log of a trip or transect can be exported from echograms.

To export logs for all the regions in an echogram, on the Echogram menu select Export, Regions, Log book...

To export logs for all the regions in a selection,

  1. make a selection using the Rectangle, Horizontal band or Vertical band tools (Selection tool buttons)
  2. from the shortcut menu select Export Selection, Regions log...
  3. Note that the export also includes regions in the echogram that overlap with the start and stop times of your selection.

If multiple classes (About region class) exist, Echoview will present the Export by Region - Select Classes dialog box for you to choose the classes to export.

Regions log book export files (*.regions.csv)

The .region.csv file contains region information and region notes.

Variable

Description

Region_ID

The index of a region in the order it is created.

The Region_ID is fixed by Echoview. You can see it in the Regions window and in Region exports.

Region_name

A descriptor of your choice.

You can name a region using the Regions window or the Region browser dialog box.

Region_type

Refer to About region type.

Region_class

Refer to About region class.

Date_s

The date for the start ping of the region.

Time_s

The time of the start ping of the region.

Lat_s

The latitude of the start ping of the region in decimal degrees.

Lon_s

The longitude of the start ping of the region in decimal degrees.

Date_e

The date of the end ping of the region.

Time_e

The time of the end ping of the region.

Lat_e

The latitude of the end ping of the region in decimal degrees.

Lon_e

The longitude of the end ping of the region in decimal degrees.

Log_distance_s

The vessel log distance (nmi) for the first ping of the region.

Log_distance_e

The vessel log distance (nmi) for the end ping of the region.

Region_notes

Text in the Notes field of the Region Browser dialog box.
