Importing variables
Echoview allows you to import the virtual variables, editable line variables and virtual line variables defined in one EV file into another EV file. Raw lines and raw variables are not imported.
To import variables:
-
Open the EV file into which you wish to import the variable(s).
-
If this file is a new EV file, on the Filesets window Add data files. The presence of data (files) is necessary in order for virtual variables, editable lines and virtual line variables to find and connect to raw lines and acoustic variables.
-
On the File menu, click Import.
-
Under the File type list, click Virtual variable definitions (*.ev).
-
Locate and select the EV file(s) that contain the variables you wish to import.
-
Click Open.
When Echoview imports a variable from another EV file, it searches for matching operands. That is, each variable has one or more operands in the original EV file. Echoview will search for a variable of the same name in the current EV file and use it. If no such variable is found, Echoview will search for the first suitable variable (that is, a variable which has the same data type as is required by the variable) and use it. If one does not exist the variable is imported and shown in the Dataflow window as an unavailable variable.
Imported variables maintain the variable properties they have in the source EV file. This includes all calibration settings, which may or may not be compatible with the calibration of raw variables in the destination EV file.
