  3. Select the required 3D object.

  4. Click Properties.

      - OR -

  1. Display the Regions window.

  2. Right-click the required 3D region.

  3. On the Shortcut menu, click 3D object properties.

The (3D object) Properties dialog box varies depending on the type of 3D object selected. The following pages may be displayed:

General page

The General page of the (3D Object) Properties dialog box displays information about the selected 3D object.

Settings

Description

Name

The name of the 3D object.

See also: Supported characters for names.

Type

The type of 3D object.

Region class

The class of the 3D region, if and only if the selected 3D object is a 3D region.

Further information

Additional details about the 3D object including details of its form and/or content. See Viewing 3D object properties and for details about specific objects.

Raster image properties

This is only available for raster images. It will display the 3D Raster Image Properties dialog box.

Display page

The display page (when available) is used to change the display settings for the selected 3D object.

The Outline curtain border setting displays an outline around the edge of an echogram curtain. The outline is useful as it aids in visualizing the location of a curtain within a scene, especially if some areas of the curtain are transparent.

The Method box allows you to select the display method for the 3D object. The full range of display methods are described in the table below. The available methods will depend on the type of 3D object that was selected.

Display method

Description

Intensity

The 3D object is displayed using the intensity color display options:

  • The Intensity area is displayed and you can set the intensity color display options.
    • Color display minimum - Sets the value below which all intensity values will be displayed in the Below threshold color of the selected color scheme.
    • Color display range - Sets the range of intensity values which are mapped to the selected color scheme. All values above (Color display minimum + Color display range) will be displayed in the color schemes Above (threshold + range) color.
    • Color scheme - Sets the color scheme that is used to color the object.
    • Select Alternate palette to use the alternate palette defined for this color scheme.
  • If the object was created in Echoview 3.10 or earlier, the intensity color display options are fixed and are based on the settings that were entered on the Create Surface from Line dialog box or Import Surface dialog box when the 3D object was created.

Specified color

The 3D object is displayed using a single color.

You can change the display color by clicking Change and selecting a new color.

You can alter the transparency of the 3D object using the Transparent slider bar.

Scene depth scale

The 3D object is displayed using the Object coloring by depth settings on the Scene Properties dialog box.

Individually colored polylines

Available for 3D polyline groups only.

The 3D object is displayed as  a set of individual polylines, the color of each one being specified individually (see the 3D Polylines page).

Arrows and spheres with intensity scale

Available for 3D polyline groups, 3D region track groups, 3D single target groups and 3D fish track groups.

The 3D object is displayed as a series of arrows connecting spheres (points), with the exception of 3D single target groups which do not contain arrows.

The Track Settings box (when available) allows you to enter values for the Track point radius and the Track arrow radius for:

The Target radius setting (when available) allows you to enter a value for:

The color of the spheres is specified by the selected Intensity settings and the intensity of the point or single target.

The color of the arrows is specified on each individual 3D polyline, 3D region track or 3D fish track in the group not here (see the 3D Polylines page, 3D Region Tracks page or 3D Fish Tracks page respectively).

You can alter the transparency of the 3D object using the Transparent slider bar. The allowed values are fully opaque or fully transparent.

Note: Surfaces can also be colored using a raster image. This is in addition to any coloring specified here. See the Raster images page below.

Multibeam Curtains page

The Multibeam curtains page of the (3D Object) Properties dialog box lists the individual multibeam ping curtains that were created in a multibeam ping curtains group. There are two buttons available:

Buttons

Description

Properties

Click to display the properties of the selected multibeam ping curtain.

Delete

Click to delete the selected multibeam ping curtain from the multibeam ping curtain group. Note that there is no undo for the delete.

Echogram Curtain Segments page

The Echogram Curtain Segments page of the (3D Object) Properties dialog box lists the individual echogram curtain segments that are in an echogram curtain. There are two buttons available:

Buttons

Description

Properties

Click to display the properties of the selected echogram curtain segment.

Delete

Click to delete the selected echogram curtain segment from the echogram curtain. Note that there is no undo for the delete.

Note: The Echogram Curtain Segments page is not available for Echogram curtains where the Live update option was selected during curtain creation.

Raster Images page

The Raster images page of the (3D Object) Properties dialog box lists the raster images that have been imported into the EV file and can be used to color a surface object.

Settings

Description

Color using these raster images

All imported raster images in the EV file are listed in this section.

Select the checkbox(es) for image(s) you want to use for coloring the surface.

Clear the checkboxes for images you don't want to use.

The color settings on the General page are still used for the surface but will be blended with the raster images. See: Coloring a surface using a raster image.

Settings

Description

Created

Displays the time this object was created in Echoview.

Acquired

Displays the time that (or range of times over which) the data on which this object is based was acquired.

Valid time (for animation)

The Valid time is used to control when the object is displayed in a scene. By default the valid time is set equal to the Acquired time.

Use the Time slider to adjust the valid time for this object if desired.

See also: About scene animation

Set to Acquired Time

Click this button once to set the valid start time to the acquired start time and the valid finish time to the acquired finish time.

Note: The valid time of 3D polylines, 3D single targets, 3D fish tracks and 3D region tracks can not be adjusted. It reflects the union of all the times of the constituent3D points which can be seen on the General page.
