Description

Existing line

Select this option to create the new line relative to an existing line.

Choose the line on which the new line will be based and select an offset method in the Offset section:

  • The Linear function method makes a translated copy of the existing line by multiplying the depth of the line by the Multiply depth by value then adding the Then add value.

  • The Off-axis angle makes a translated copy of the existing line by calculating the equivalent depth change for a specified change in off beam axis Angle. This calculation assumes a vertically oriented echosounder and a flat bottom. The transducer draft is taken from the specified Transducer. If the new line is based on a sounder-detected bottom then the transducer associated with that variable is used (another transducer cannot be selected). See About off-axis angle line offsets for a precise definition.

Fixed depth (m)

Select this option to create a new line at a fixed depth on the echogram. Enter the desired depth in meters for the new line.

Pick from current variable

Select this option to create a line using the line picking algorithm set on the Single beam tab of the Lines and Surfaces page of the EV File Properties dialog box.

See Line picking and bottom detection.

Note: Where a current variable is unspecified, Pick from current variable will be unavailable.

Properties button

The Properties button is available when Pick from current variable is selected. Click the button and the Single beam tab of the Lines and Surfaces page of the EV File Properties dialog box is displayed so that you can specify settings for the line pick.

None

Select this option to create a blank line that you can then draw on the echogram using the Line and Surface tool.
