Importing virtual variables

Echoview allows you to import the virtual variables defined in one EV file into another EV file.

To import virtual variables:

  1. Open the EV file into which you wish to import the virtual variable(s).

  2. On the File menu, click Import.

  3. In the Files of type box, click Virtual variable definitions (*.ev).

  4. Locate and select the EV file(s) that contain the virtual variables you wish to import.

  5. Click Open.

When Echoview imports virtual variable properties from another EV file, it searches for matching operands. That is, each virtual variable has one or more operands in the original EV file. Echoview will search for a variable of the same name in the current EV file and use it. If no such variable is found, Echoview will search for the first suitable variable (that is, a variable which has the same data type as is required by the virtual variable) and use it. If no such variable exists, the virtual variable will not be imported.

Imported virtual variables maintain the variable properties they have in the source file. This includes all calibration settings, which may or may not be compatible with the calibration of raw variables in the destination EV file.
