The Analysis page of the Variable Properties dialog box is used to enter settings relating to analyses and integration.
The Exclusion section allows you to choose:
Click the link (in this section) Read more about samples and integration in the Help file to go to About samples and echo integration.

Settings |
Description |
Exclude above line |
Select a line above which the sample data is excluded from analysis. |
Exclude below line |
Select a line below which the sample data is excluded from analysis. |
Exclude pings with bad line status on the exclude below line |
If selected, this option will exclude from analyses those samples in pings where the line status of the exclude-below line is bad. |
Exclude bad data regions |
If selected, this option excludes samples within bad data regions from analyses. This setting is selected by default. |
Whole excluded or no-data pings do not reduce the Thickness mean |
If selected, this option identifies whole pings that consist entirely of excluded samples and/or no-data samples and directs Echoview to use analysis calculations that do not reduce the Thickness mean. Generally this setting helps you to you to set up the conditions where NASC can be represent the water volume you intended. However, there is one case where this settings' behaviour may not be desirable. Refer to About samples and echo integration for more information. |
The Integration section is only available for Sv variables.
The Background noise setting can affect specific analysis variables and the Graph ping: Constant-Power Curve Value
Setting |
Description |
Background noise Sv at 1m |
Specify the background noise level that will be used in calculating background noise in an analysis domain. Note: You can use the Ping graph Constant-Power Curve to visually estimate this value for an Sv echogram. |
The Frequency distribution section is used to control the display of Frequency distribution graphs.
Settings |
Description |
Minimum value |
These settings apply to the display of frequency distribution graphs for the selected variable. When a single target variable is selected, these settings will also affect the output when exporting frequency distributions. |
Maximum value |
Number of bins |
