About integration algorithms
Echoview provides several distinct algorithms for integrating Sv data. They are as follows:
Algorithm |
Description |
||||||||
Single beam - Equal sample weight |
This algorithm is available for single beam data only. It makes no correction for varying sample size or ping spacing (varying ping rate or vessel speed). This algorithm does not allow for calculation of Volume_integration and dependent values. |
||||||||
Multibeam cruise scanning - Equal ping weight |
This algorithm is available for all multibeam data. It makes no correction for varying ping spacing (varying ping rate or vessel speed). This algorithm does not allow for calculation of Volume_integration and dependent values. |
||||||||
H-mode cruise scanning - Furuno |
This algorithm is available only for H-mode data while cruise scanning. It makes allowance for varying sample size and ping spacing (varying ping rate or vessel speed). Note: Only the beams on the leading face of each H-mode ping are considered during school detection. All beams are considered during integration. This may lead to integration errors. A future release of Echoview will address these concerns. See also About ping modes. |
||||||||
V-mode cruise scanning - Furuno |
This algorithm is available only for V-mode data while cruise scanning. It makes allowance for varying sample size and ping spacing (varying ping rate or vessel speed). |
||||||||
S-mode cruise scanning - Furuno |
This algorithm is available only for S-mode data while cruise scanning. It makes allowance for varying sample size and ping spacing (varying ping rate or vessel speed). |
||||||||
H-mode instrument scanning - Furuno |
This algorithm is available only for H-mode data while instrument scanning. It makes allowance for varying sample size and ping spacing (non-uniform tilt angle variation). |
||||||||
V-mode instrument scanning - Furuno |
This algorithm is available only for V-mode data while cruise scanning. It makes allowance for varying sample size and ping spacing (non-uniform bearing angle variation). |
||||||||
This algorithm is applicable only to a target-locked H-mode or V-mode variable. It makes allowance for incomplete sampling of a region, by extrapolating the H-mode and V-mode data. This algorithm uses a partially sampled analysis domain and extrapolation used to calculate the final result. As a consequence ping, beam and sample based analysis variables must be interpreted with respect to the actual data as follows:

Note: These algorithm will integrate all of the samples within a specific analysis domain. One or more analysis domains can be integrated at one time. See About integration for further information.
