Sonardyne equations

Sonardyne equations used to calculate sample value and sample range.

Equations used with data read from *.bgram files

Unspecified dB sample values

where:

S2 is a quantity proportional to Power in dB.

where:

I is the In-phase component of the received signal, read from the data file.

Q is the Quadrature component of the received signal, read from the data file.

Sample range values

Sample range of the center of the sample

where:

Sample_range (in meters) is the range of the center of sample N in a ping.

SampleThickness is calculated using the start range and stop range of the ping divided by the number of samples in the ping. See also About start and stop ranges.

c is the SoundSpeed in meters per second. SoundSpeed is not read from the *.bgram data file. A default value of 1500 m/s is used for calculations. A different SoundSpeed may be specified using an ECS file.

N is a sample number in a ping.

RxBW is read from the data file.
