New for users of data from Simrad echosounders

This page summarizes the new features, improvements and other changes that have been implemented in Echoview 10 which specifically affect the use of data from Simrad echosounders.

Simrad EK80 performance improvements

Multithreading has been enabled for loading and calculating Simrad EK80 sample data, which means that Echoview 10 is much faster for viewing echograms and performing analyses on pulse compressed variables derived from all supported products in the EK80 family of echosounders, including ES80, WBAT, EKAuto and Kongsberg EA640 data files.

Simrad EK80 3-segment rerecorded data file reading

This change was added to Echoview 9 post release and is incorporated into Echoview 10. Major- and minor-axis angular position values from data files recorded by a 3-segment transducer with a wideband transceiver (Beam types 17, 49, 65 or 81) that have been reduced (i.e. stored in Power/Angle or Reduced Power/Angle mode) are handled so that angular position and TS values are correct in Echoview. Previously, this data was not read correctly.

Export complex data

A new complex data CSV export for complex and pulse compressed complex variables derived from wideband data. The complex data export is available from echograms, regions and selections.

TransducerImpedanceTableWideband in the ECS file

Echoview no longer accepts the name 'ImpedanceTableWideband' in ECS files and will display a message that it is an unknown setting. If this affects your EV file, edit the ECS file and change 'ImpedanceTableWideband' to 'TransducerImpedanceTableWideband'. For further information refer to Simrad EK80 data files.
