Detect Schools dialog box
The Detect Schools dialog box is used to detect 2D schools on the current single beam Sv echogram.
To display the Detect Schools dialog box:
- On the Echogram menu, click Detect Schools... (to detect schools in the entire echogram).
- OR -
- Make a selection (to detect schools in a selection).
- On the Shortcut menu (right-click), click Detect Schools...

Assign Class |
Specify the region class to be assigned to detected schools. |

Edit Region Classes... |
Click to open the Classes page of the EV File Properties dialog box where you can create a new region class or edit an existing class. |

Delete existing 2D regions with this class first |
When selected, all 2D regions with the assigned region class are deleted from the selection or echogram before school detection begins. |

Run classification after detection |
When selected, detected regions are classified according to the rules specified on the Region Classification page of the EV File Properties dialog box. When no classification rules are specified, this setting is unavailable. The setting is also supported by the Command interface and EvApplication.Exec(). |
Detection configuration |
Select the school detection configuration to use. See also: About region detection configurations: Preferred detection configuration. |

Edit Region Detection Configurations... |
Opens the Region Detection page of the EV File Properties dialog box, where you can create and manage single beam school detection configurations. |

Set as preferred detection configuration for this variable |
Select to set the selected Detection configuration as the preferred school detection configuration for this variable. This updates the preferred configuration on the Regions page of the Variable Properties dialog box. A variable-level preference overrides the EV-file-level preferred configuration. |

Detect |
Click to start the school detection process. The detection of schools in large EV files may take some time. |
Notes:
- Exclusion settings on the Analysis page of the Variable Properties dialog box also affect school detection.
- Set appropriate data thresholds on the Data page of the Variable Properties dialog box before detecting schools. If no data thresholds are set, Echoview warns that school detection will likely identify schools that are larger than intended. You can continue with detection or cancel and set the thresholds.
