Frequency distribution graph

This page covers:

Onscreen frequency distribution graphs

Single-beam SV, TS, power dB, unspecified dB, boolean, linear, single target and target length data

Frequency distribution graphs of single beam Sv, TS, power dB, unspecified dB, boolean, linear, single target and target length data are displayed as bar charts that show the percentage of samples within a selection or region that fall within defined sample range bins. The sample range bins are specified in the units relevant to the echogram variable (for example, dB re m-1 for a Sv variable). The minimum and maximum range values and the number of bins that are displayed are set on the Graph Properties dialog box.

Multibeam magnitude, SV, TS, power dB, unspecified dB, boolean, and phase data

Frequency distribution graphs of multibeam magnitude, Sv, TS, power dB, unspecified dB, boolean and phase data are displayed as bar charts that show the percentage of samples within a selection that fall within defined sample range bins. The sample range bins are specified in the units relevant to the echogram variable (for example, radians for a phase variable). The minimum and maximum range values and the number of bins that are displayed are set on the Graph Properties dialog box.

Region export from single target data

Analysis export frequency distribution parameters for the single target variable regions are specified on the Analysis page of the Variable Properties dialog box for single target variables.

Displaying frequency distribution graphs

To display a frequency distribution graph of a selection:

  1. Make a selection.
  2. On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, point to Graph Selection, and then click Frequency Distribution.

To display a frequency distribution graph of a region:

  1. Select an existing region or define a new region.

    Note:
If you wish to graph a bad data region, you must clear the Exclude bad regions option on the Analysis page of the Variable Properties dialog box.
  2. On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, point to Graph Region, and then click Frequency Distribution.

Notes:

  • Configure axes and labels with Graph Properties.
  • Frequency distribution graphs are updated automatically when properties of the data within the region change (except where the boundaries of a region are changed after creating a graph).
