About the AVX2 instruction set

The Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) instruction set was introduced, around 2011 in the 2nd generation of Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, such as the Intel Core i7-2600. AVX capability enables parallel processing on the CPU for mathematical and data-intensive tasks.

The minimum Echoview requirement is the AVX2 instruction set. Please note that lower-budget CPU brands such as Intel Celeron and Pentium may be missing the feature.

To check whether your CPU supports AVX or AVX2, refer to How to check if my CPU supports AVX or AVX2 instructions?

For more information on CPU brands see Purchasing a computer: CPU selection.

Troubleshooting

Echoview messages where the CPU does not support the AVX2 instruction set.

Run Echoview on a CPU without AVX2 support

An error is displayed on starting Echoview with the message:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."

Run Echoview on a Mac with Windows via Parallels

An error is displayed on starting Echoview with the message:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."

Anecdotal cases of this issue have reported that Windows updates released in mid-2026 together with changing the program settings (Parallels, Forums: Windows 11 25H2 with AVX/AVX2 emulation works!) and manually selecting Run as administrator, may resolve the issue.
