Simrad EK80 sample range calculation

Sample range is calculated on the basis of settings displayed on the Calibration page of the Variable properties dialog box as follows:

Let the samples be numbered 0 to n-1 with sample 0 nearest the transducer. Then:

Ri = T × (i + 1)

where:

Ri = the range to sample number i (m)
T  = the thickness of one sample (m) - see notes below.
i   = the sample number (0 to n-1)

Notes:

  • The sample thickness is calculated as follows, depending upon the source of the data:
    • .raw, .bot or .xyz file:

      T = I × c/2 (m)

      where
             I = the sample interval recorded in the file - for this ping (s)
             c = the sound speed displayed on the Calibration page of the Variable properties dialog box (m/s)
       
  • Support includes a SoundSpeed-Depth profile when available.
