New in Echoview 1.50
Kaijo KFC-1000 support
Echoview now supports the Kaijo KFC-1000 echosounder.
Customized constants pages for specific echosounders
There are now customized constants pages for SonarData EchoListener, Simrad EK500 and EY500, Kaijo KFC series and BioSonics DT series echosounders.
Region classification tool
A region classification tool has been added to the echogram toolbar. This allows for quicker changing of a region's classification.
Improved bottom detection algorithm
Added to the Bottom detection page of the View Options dialog is the ability to set three parameters Sv Threshold (dB), Bottom Discrimination Level (dB) and Backstep.
Improved school detection
Two changes have been made to the school detection algorithms to improve the detection of schools.
In earlier versions, detected schools often had "spaghetti-like" structures on their edges where the school was linked to small school candidates that were near the limit of the linking distance. This was caused by the test for the size of a school candidate including the link to the candidate. The inclusion of this link has been removed (except for very large schools where it will make no difference).
The second change is to introduce a horizontal and vertical linking distance. This means tests for possible links from one sample to other samples are made within an ellipse around the first sample. The horizontal and vertical semi-axes of the ellipse are defined by the horizontal and vertical linking distances respectively. If the horizontal and vertical linking distances are set equal then the behavior of this version reverts to that of previous versions.
An additional cruise track processing setting
The minimum acceptable gap between good GPS fixes can now be set in the Cruise track page of the View Options dialog
Changes to cruise track processing
Cruise track processing settings are now made in the Cruise track page of the View Options dialog instead of the dialog displayed by the Data/Processing menu command.
Simrad bottom referenced echogram data ("expanded bottom data")
Echogram (Qn) telegrams from the Simrad EK500 and EY500 sounders can store a bottom-referenced echogram in addition to the normal surface-referenced echogram. If a bottom-reference echogram data is available and is of higher resolution than the surface-referenced data, then Echoview can build a composite echogram containing all the data at the maximum available resolution.
Two new integration export variables
There are now options to export Pings intersection region and sa for pings intersecting region. See: Integration variables
Simrad EA500 support
Echolog_EK supports logging digital echograms from the Simrad EA500, which can then be viewed in Echoview. See EA500 configuration.
