Details dialog box

The Details dialog box displays details about the sample beneath the mouse pointer in an active echogram window. The type of information displayed includes data from the Information toolbar, the Echoview status bar and the Information dialog box. This optional display is useful when you want to examine all the available details for a sample. Use Shortcut menu > Select All and Copy to take the information to your favorite text editor.

To display the Details dialog box:

• Click Details on the View menu
  
  - OR -
• Click on the Windows and dialog boxes toolbar
  

Click View to show or hide these catergories:

• General
• Range
• Target
• Ping (from file)
• Rendering
• File
• Color display
• Calibration

Notes:

• The Target (from file) categroy is displayed for single target data and converted multibeam target data.
• Some data types may display empty (but potential) category headings.

To select the number of decimal places (DP) to display for the depth and range in the Details dialog box

1. Click View, select Display precision.
2. In the Display precision box, select the desired decimal places (DP) to display.

To lock/unlock the display of the Details dialog box

• press CTRL+K

- OR -

• On the Shortcut menu (right-click), select Lock Details

To copy the details from the locked display of the Details dialog box

1. On the Shortcut menu (right-click), select Select All.
2. Press CTRL+C
3. Paste the selection into any application which accepts pasted text (for example a word processor or an e-mail editor)

General

General details may include information displayed on the Information toolbar and the Echoview status bar and the following:

• Depth (mid) m
• Range (mid) m

• Information about depth and range can be found on the About Depth and Range page.
• Information about mid values for sample depth and range can be found on the About start and stop ranges page.

Details in addition to the above sources of information are included for:

• RESON 7000 data
• Simrad ME70 raw data

Range

Range details may include data from the Datapoint page of the Information dialog box or information from the data file(s).

Ping (from file)

Ping details may include data from the Ping page of the Information dialog box.

SP70 ping details from the SP70 data file.

SH80 ping details from the SH80 data file.

BlueView sonar details from the *.son data file.

ME70 details from the *.raw data file.

Beam (from file)

ME70 details from the *.raw data file.

Target

Target details include:

• TS value (dB)
• Uncompensated TS value (dB) - included for single targets echograms
• Range (m)
• Depth (m)
• Minor-axis angle (degrees)
• Major-axis angle (degrees)
• Length (cm)+*
• Length across beams (cm)*
• Uncompensated length (cm) - included for single targets echograms
• Length (manual) (cm)*
• Perimeter (cm)*
• Area (cm2)*
• Variation*
• Compactness*
• Thickness (cm)*
• Range extent (cm)*
• Pulse length (PLDL) (m)
• Pulse length (6dB) (m)
• Orientation (degrees)*
• Class*

* Target property from multibeam data.

Notes:

• Target details from Single target detection raw variables can also be found on the Target page of the Information dialog box.
• Target details from Target length conversion variables can also be found on the Target length page of the Information dialog box.

Target (from file)

File added to the fileset. This file contains multibeam target data in an Echoview single target data format. Such a file is commonly used to improve performance when working with multibeam targets.

Rendering

Rendering details include data associated with multibeam replay.

File

File details include data file name and where available data from the File page of the Information dialog box or information from the data file(s)

Details in addtion to the above information are included for:

• Big lens. (Indicating the beam spread of the DIDSON transducer lens used. No indicates a standard lens. Unknown indicates Echoview is unable to determine the kind of lens from the data file header.)
• Transducer type from a BlueView *.son file

Note: In some instances Biosonic .dt4 values can be unreliable. Refer to the Biosonic note for more information.

Color display

Color display details include data from the Display page of the Variable properties dialog box.

Calibration

Calibration details where available include data from the Calibration page of the Variable properties dialog box.
