Adding WMTS or WMS maps and waypoint files to cruisetrack windows

Map and waypoint files

You can display maps (from Map files) and series of joined coordinates (from Waypoint files) on cruisetrack windows.

To make map or waypoint files available to a cruisetrack window:

1. On the EV File Properties dialog box, select the Mapping page.
2. In the Map and Waypoint files section, click Add.
3. Browse to a map or waypoint file and click Open.
4. Click OK.

Notes:

• You can only add a maximum of 10 map and waypoint files to each EV file.
• Echoview only supports map files in longitude/latitude format.

To view which Map or Waypoint files are displayed in a cruisetrack window:

1. Select the position variable from which the cruisetrack was created.
2. On the Variable Properties dialog box, select the Cruisetrack Display page.
3. The files are displayed in the Map and Waypoint files section.

Warning: Echoview is not a navigational tool. Any map files supplied with Echoview show indicative positions of coastlines only; they do not show navigational hazards. Echoview Software is not responsible for the content of online maps, and does not guarantee that they are rendered accurately within Echoview.

WMTS maps

You can display a WMTS map on cruisetrack windows and alongtrack displays. WMTS maps are tile-based and offer faster performance compared to WMS maps.

To select a WMTS map as the background:

1. On the EV File Properties dialog box, select the Mapping page.
2. Ensure the Mode is set to WMTS.
3. In the Tile Server section of the Mapping page, select a predefined basemap (Satellite, Ocean, or Street) or configure a custom WMTS server.
4. Click OK.

Notes:

• WMTS maps are cached locally for offline use after tiles are loaded.
• A maximum of 10 total map and waypoint files can be added to each EV file, including WMTS maps.

WMS maps

You can display a WMS map on cruisetrack windows and on alongtrack displays.

To make a WMS map available to a cruisetrack window and alongtrack display:

1. On the EV File Properties dialog box, select the Mapping page.
2. Ensure the Mode is set to WMS.
3. In the WMS maps section, click Add.
4. On the WMS Map Properties dialog box enter a Map Name and the URL address of a WMS map.
5. Select or clear WMS map layers to suit your data.
6. Click OK.

Notes:

• Precaching is useful when Echoview is used and there is no Internet access.
• WMS is a legacy option retained for compatibility; WMTS is the default mapping mode in Echoview.
• A maximum of 10 total map and waypoint files can be added to each EV file, including WMS maps.

To view a WMS map on a cruisetrack window:

1. Select the position variable from which the cruisetrack was created.
2. On the Variable Properties dialog box, select the Cruisetrack Display page.
3. The WMS maps are displayed in the WMS maps section. Select a WMS map.
4. Click OK.
