Editing regions
Currently, it is only possible to edit the nodes and line boundaries of 2D regions. The Region Editor can edit region properties and location in the time and depth domains. See also About regions and About 3D regions.
You can edit the size and shape of 2D regions using the Region edit tools . The tool icon displays the current selected tool. To use that tool click the icon. To select a different tool click the Region edit tools arrow to select the:
-
Node tool to move, add and delete nodes and line segments,
-
Draw tool to redraw parts of the region boundary, or
-
Nudge tool to nudge (place indentations in) parts of the region boundary.
Note: Many more edit tools are available specifically designed for use with fish tracks. See Fish track editing

Edit by redrawing parts of the region boundary

Release the mouse button.
Edit by nudging the region boundary
Nudge editing uses a circular tool to place indentations in an existing region boundary. You determine the size of the indentations by setting the circumference of the nudge tool. The Nudge tool is designed for small changes to region boundaries and may perform poorly if large region alterations are attempted - we recommend you use the Draw tool for such operations.
To edit a region by nudging the region boundary:
-
On the toolbar, click the Region edit tool arrow .
-
On the drop-down menu, click Nudge.
-
Set the circumference of the nudge tool; hold down the SHIFT key and left click and drag the mouse (up to increase the circumference, down to decrease the circumference).
-
Place the entire nudge tool:
inside the region you wish to edit (if nudging the region outwards)
- OR -
outside the region you wish to edit (if nudging inwards). -
Click and hold the left mouse button.
-
Slowly drag the nudge tool into the region boundary at the point where you wish to place the indentation.
