This dialog box is used to create new virtual variables, virtual lines, virtual surfaces or exporters.
No Selected variable
To display the New Virtual Variable dialog box:
- On the View menu, click Dataflow to display the Dataflow window.
- On the Shortcut menu (right-click), click New and select Variable... or Virtual Line... or Virtual Surface... or Exporter...
- - OR -
- On the Dataflow menu, click New and select Variable... or Virtual Line... or Virtual Surface... or Expoter...
Selected variable
To display the New Virtual Variable dialog box:
- On the Dataflow window, select a variable (a raw or virtual, variable or line or surface or exporter).
- On the Shortcut menu (right-click), click New and select Variable... or Virtual Line... or Virtual Surface... or Exporter...
Create new variable overview
When no variable is preselected, the Select operator list or Select export type list displays items compatible with objects in the Dataflow window.
When a variable is preselected, the variable Name and Data type are displayed. Use (select or clear) Only show operators/export types which are compatible with the selected variable to change the display of Select operator/export type list.
In the Variable... or Virtual Line... or Virtual Surface... or Exporter... dialog box:
- Under Select operator/Select export type, use the Filter to find and select an operator.
- Click OK.
- On the Operands tab, select the Operand(s).
- On the Name and Notes tab, enter Name/Dynamic name and notes.
- Click OK.
- Configure other properties.
Notes:
- An operator name with the icon of a hare indicates that the operator is optimized for multi-threading.
- Greyed-out operators are unavailable but their description can be viewed.
- When an operator requires two or more operands for input, only pings with the same ping geometry will be used to create the virtual variable. See Using multiple operands for more information.
