About Exporter objects

Exporter objects on the Dataflow window let you configure custom exports, add notes, and repeat the same export in Echoview.

Exporter objects are created via the Dataflow Toolbox or on the Dataflow window. The Exporter settings are specified on the Exporter Properties dialog box. Exporter object property values may be exported to a text file via the Shortcut (right-click) menu, Export, Settings.

After configuring the Exporter object, to export results to a file:

  1. Double-click the Exporter object, or move the mouse pointer over the Exporter object and right-click, then select Export and choose the relevant export command.
  2. Specify a file name and path. Click Save.

The Shortcut (right-click) menu of the exporter object includes Export, Show Previous Export In File Explorer. This information is also displayed for the exporter on the Details dialog box under General, Previous export path.

Exporters of the same Exporter type support the editing of Variable Properties for selected multiple variables.

Exporter types include analysis exporters and measurement exporters.

The command interface supports exporter objects, exporter properties and the Export action. COM scripting supports creating an exporter, exporter objects and the exporters collection.

From Echoview 16 onward, many Echogram menu, Export commands create exporter objects on the Dataflow window instead of running a one-off export. The tables below map the previous export commands to their equivalent exporter object types to help you relate older workflows to the current exporter-based workflow.

Sv integration, configured to use regions as the analysis domain.

Analysis by Cells, Frequency distribution 

Frequency distribution, configured to use cells as the analysis domain.

Analysis by Transects, Single targets  

Single target analysis, configured to use transects as the analysis domain.

Analysis by Regions, Fish tracks (with database export mode selected so that you get target values for every target in a track)  

Fish track analysis, configured to use regions as the analysis domain and local output settings to use the database format.

Analysis by Cells, To ICES CSV

ICES analysis, configured to use cells as the analysis domain, with Mean Sv and Cell middle as the analysis type and variable to export.

Export, Vegetation Analysis

Vegetation analysis, configured to use a specified grid spacing, bottom line, and vegetation line.

Analysis by regions, Wideband Frequency response

Wideband Frequency Response analysis, configured to use a specified region class, variables, output type, calculation settings and window size.
