About the Dataflow Toolbox

The Dataflow Toolbox is an interface for placing new virtual variables, virtual lines or virtual surfaces and other dataflow objects into the Dataflow Window. These variables are classified in the Dataflow Toolbox menu pane according to their type, and there is a text box for you to search for items by name.

Only applicable operators to the variables in the current EV files are available for selection from the menu pane.

To view the Dataflow Toolbox, click the

  • Dataflow Toolbox icon , or
  • the View menu then select Dataflow Toolbox.

You can dock or float the Dataflow Toolbox panel.

Create a dataflow object

  1. Open the Dataflow window.
  2. Open the Dataflow Toolbox.
  3. Select an item from the menu pane and drag and drop it into the Dataflow window.

    Customize the variable settings via the corresponding

    Variable Properties dialog box,

    Line Properties dialog box,

    Surface Properties dialog box,

    New Surface dialog box (with the Surface pick from current variable item),

    Scene Properties dialog box,

    Sticky Note Properties or

    Transducer Properties dialog box.

Dataflow Toolbox sections

Text box

Use the text box to filter items by name.

Leave it blank to show all available items.

Menu pane

Expand the menu headings in this section to reveal the associated items. Options displayed in black text are suitable to use with the dataflow objects in the current EV file. Items in grey are unavailable. If you have selected a variable in the Dataflow window, only items which can be used with that variable are available in the menu pane.

A selected item will display information under the Description pane.

To save a list of items from the Dataflow Toolbox to your clipboard, right-click in this section and select Copy List. In this list, section names are preceded by * and unavailable items are appended by #.

Favorites

Right-click on any item and choose Add to Favorites to save it to this menu.

Recently Used

View a list of six items most recently created with either the Dataflow toolbox or the New variable dialog box.

Operators

Operators filtered by the content of the text box.

Lines

Line operators filtered by the content of the text box.

Surfaces

Surface operators filtered by the content of the text box.

Others

Scene, sticky note and transducer items filtered by the content of the text box.

Description pane

Select any item from the menu pane to read a short description and licensing requirements.
