Simrad Ex60 setup for Echolog 60

The following details are a guide to setting up the Simrad Ex60 software for live viewing and logging Simrad Ex60 raw data, Ex70 raw data and EK15 raw data with Echolog 60. This is not a comprehensive guide to the settings for recording Ex60 data and the instructions may not be related to your version of the Ex60 logging software. Please consult your Ex60 manual for further information.

Using the ER60 software

To enter the required settings:

  1. Start the ER60 software.

  2. On the Output menu, click File.

  3. Click the Directory tab.

  4. In the Current output directory box, select the folder to which the data files will be logged.
    Note:
    You will have to enter the same folder as the Survey folder on the Echolog 60 Settings dialog box.

  5. Click the Raw data tab.

  6. Select the Save raw data option.
    Note:
    This will instruct the ER60 software to save .raw and .bot files, see Ex60 file formats for more information.

  7. Enter other details as required.

  8. Click the Processed data tab.

  9. If the Save EK500 option is selected, clear the selection.

  10. Click OK.

Using the ES60 software

To enter the required settings:

  1. Start the ES60 software.

  2. On the File menu, click Store.
    Note: This option is only available when Normal operation is selected.

  3. In the Survey section of the Store dialog box, select the folder to which the data files will be logged.
    Note: You will have to enter the same folder as the Survey folder on the Echolog 60 Settings dialog box.

  4. Select the Save Raw Data and the Save Output Data options.
    Note:
    This will instruct the ES60 software to save .raw and .out files, see Ex60 file formats for more information.

  5. Enter other details as required.

  6. Click OK.

Using the EK60 Mk1 software

To enter the required settings:

  1. Start the EK60 Mk1 software.

  2. On the File menu, click Store.
    Note: This option is only available when Normal operation is selected.

  3. In the Survey section of the Store dialog box, select the folder to which the data files will be logged.
    Note:
    You will have to enter the same folder as the Survey folder on the Echolog 60 Settings dialog box.

  4. Enter other details as required.

  5. Click the Raw data tab.

  6. Select the Save raw data option.
    Note:
    This will instruct the EK60 software to save .raw and .out files, see Ex60 file formats for more information.

  7. Enter other file details as required.

  8. Click OK.

Notes:

  • If you choose to store Heave and Temperature sensor data, your echograms in Echoview will appear with many orange marker regions. Heave and temperature sensor data are stored by the EK60 as a comment, which is translated into an Unclassified regions marker region for each ping in Echoview.

  • If you wish to store Heave and Temperature data, you may need to re-classify all of your marker regions in Echoview using the Region Editor and set them to invisible on your echograms on the Regions page of the Variable Properties dialog box.

  • If you do not wish to store heave and temperature sensor data, consult the EK60 manual.
