New for Simrad users

This page summarizes the new features, improvements and other changes that have been implemented in Echoview 15 which specifically affect the use of data from Simrad echosounders.

Simrad Ex60 and EK80 platform and transducer metadata

Echoview introduces the use of supported platform and transducer metadata read from Simrad Ex60 and Simrad EK80 data files. The assignment of metadata values is subject to limitations associated with the recorded data and the potential interaction of platform metadata with transducer metadata. Consider reviewing Platform Properties and Transducer Properties and making adjustments if required.

Simrad MS70 file format

Introducing support for the Simrad MS70, a multibeam sonar that collects data in a 3D matrix of 25 x 20 beams, usually recorded from a drop keel and horizontally orientated. Simrad MS70 file format support means that Echoview can now derive matrix variables from which multibeam sector data may be extracted using the Sector select and the Maximum intensity - matrix operators.

Simrad EK80 transmission characteristics

Transmission characteristics can now be read from Simrad EK80 CW and narrowband data. The new Extract transmission characteristics operator enables the creation of a variable for a specified transducer/transducer sector transmission statistic.
