Using scenes

A scene is a 3D environment in which one or more 3D objects can be displayed. This page covers:

Create, display or copy a scene

To display a new scene:

  1. Create scene on the Dataflow window via the Dataflow toolbox, Other Objects, Scene
  2. (drag and drop).
  3. Configure the properties in the Scene Properties dialog box.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Double-click the scene object.

Notes:

  • Objects will only appear on the scene if their valid time overlaps with the scene time.
  • A scene can only be viewed in one window. If you would like to display different views of the same scene in more than one window, you will need to make a copy of the scene.

To display an existing scene:

  1. On the Dataflow window, double-click the scene object.
  2. -OR-
  3. On the View menu, click Scene and select a scene name.

To create a copy of an existing scene:

  1. In the Dataflow window, select a scene, right-click, and on the Shortcut menu, select Copy.
  2. In the Dataflow window, on the Shortcut menu, select Paste.

Select which 3D objects to display in a scene

Before you can display a 3D object in a scene, you must create the object or import the object into the EV file.

To select which 3D objects to display in a scene:

  1. Display a scene.
  2. On the Scene menu, click Scene Properties.
    -OR-
    On the Shortcut menu (right-click), click Scene Properties.
  3. Click the Objects tab.
  4. Under View the 3D objects, select the 3D objects you wish to view.

Notes: Objects will only appear on the scene if their valid time overlaps with the scene time window.
