Palette Properties dialog box

The Palette Properties dialog box is used to edit color schemes. It allows you to set the color range and the colors that will be used to represent lines, regions, grids, cruise tracks, and fish tracks on echograms. The settings you enter will be applied to either the Primary or Alternate palette depending on which one is displayed in the Echocolor window when you display the dialog box.

Color Legend page

The Color Legend page of the Palette Properties dialog box is used to define the color range legend for a color scheme.

Settings

Description

Number of color steps

Determines the number of colors used in the color range. This in turn defines the number of color panels shown in the Echocolor window.

Color display minimum

Used to set the lowest and highest value in the display range respectively.

These values are used to calculate the range of each color step only and are not used by Echoview. Echoview uses the Color display minimum and Color display range defined on the Echogram Display page of the Variable Properties dialog box when displaying an echogram.

Color display range

No data color

Determines the display color for no data samples.

Below threshold color

Determines the color that will be used to display samples with a value below the Color display minimum setting defined on the Echogram Display page of the Variable Properties dialog box for an echogram.

Above (threshold + range) color

Determines the color that will be used to display samples with a value above the Color display range setting defined on the Display page of the Variable Properties dialog box for an echogram.

Lines page

The Lines page of the Palette Properties dialog box is used to set the colors and styles that will be applied to lines.

Settings

Description

sounder-detected bottom color

Determines the color that will be applied to sounder-detected bottom lines.

Unverified line color

Determines the colors that will be applied to line sections with the corresponding line status.

Good line color

Bad line color

Virtual line style

Determines the style that will be applied to virtual lines.

Hint: Choose colors and styles that do not conflict with the colors and styles you are using to represent data and other objects.

Regions page

The Regions page of the Palette Properties dialog box is used to set the display colors for region borders, fills and text.

Description

Analysis region border color

Separate border and fill colors can be defined for different region types.

 

Fish track regions are drawn with a color sequence defined on the Fish Track page of this dialog box.

Analysis region fill color

Bad data region border color

Bad data region fill color

Marker region border color

Marker region fill color

Region text color

Determines the display color for region classifications and region labels when displayed on echograms.

Hint: Choose colors and styles that do not conflict with the colors and styles you are using to represent data and other objects.

Miscellaneous page

The Miscellaneous page of the Palette Properties dialog box is used to set the display colors for grids, cruise tracks and integration fill areas.

Settings

Description

Grid line color

Determines the display colors for grids.

The Grid label text background color should set to contrast with the Grid label text color so labels are easily readable.

Grid label text color

Grid label text background color

Cruise track background color

Determines the background of alongtrack displays. The background color for GPS fixes is white and cannot be altered.

Analysis-hatching color

Determines the color of the analysis-hatching that will be displayed in an analysis domain upon completion of an on-screen integration or an on-screen analysis on an echogram. The fill style is hatching and cannot be changed.

Hint: Choose colors and styles that do not conflict with the colors and styles you are using to represent data and other objects.

Fish Track page

The Fish Track page of the Palette Properties dialog box is used to set the display colors and border thickness for fish tracks.

Determines the 8 colors that will be applied to the border lines for fish track regions.

Echoview will cycle through the eight colors when you detect fish tracks.

Fish Track Width

Determines the width (in pixels) of the border line for fish track regions.

Hint: Choose colors and styles that do not conflict with the colors and styles you are using to represent data and other objects.
