About tables

Tables allow you to view and export the details of position, attitude, distance, line and bottom points variables in Echoview.

The following tables are available:

Table Availability

Position GPS fixes

Available for a GPS fix variable. Each line in the table will contain the following data for a single position GPS fix:

  • No. (number)
  • Date/Time (YYYY-MM-DD/HH:MM:SS)
  • Data file (the name of your raw data file)
  • Latitude (degrees)
  • Longitude (degrees)
  • Source (any NMEA GPS-fix letter groups identified by Echoview)
  • Status (displays GPS fix Status export values)
  • Distance (nmi) (distance estimate between fixes is displayed and exported)

Notes:

Line data

Available for line variables. Each line in the table may contain the following data for a single time/depth line co-ordinate:

  • No.
  • Date/Time (YYYY-MM-DD/HH:MM:SS)
  • Data file (the name of your raw data file)
  • Depth (m)
  • (line) Status

Notes:

  • A raw line variable may have a related Position GPS fix variable.
  • Depth is referenced to the Z coordinate of the water level. Positive depths are reported for displacement below the water level.

Vessel logs

Available for a vessel log variable. Each line in the table will contain the following data for a single vessel log determination:

  • No.
  • Date/Time (YYYY-MM-DD/HH:MM:SS)
  • Data file (the name of your raw data file)
  • Distance (nmi)

Heading data

Available for a heading variable. Each line in the table will contain the following data for a single heading determination:

  • No
  • Date/Time (YYYY-MM-DD/HH:MM:SS)
  • Data file (the name of your raw data file)
  • Heading (degrees)

Pitch data

Available for a pitch variable. Each line in the table will contain the following data for a single pitch determination:

  • No.
  • Date/Time (YYYY-MM-DD/HH:MM:SS)
  • Data file (the name of your raw data file)
  • Pitch (degrees)

Roll data

Available for a roll variable. Each line in the table will contain the following data for a single roll determination:

  • No.
  • Date/Time (YYYY-MM-DD/HH:MM:SS)
  • Data file (the name of your raw data file)
  • Roll (degrees)

Bottom classification data

Available for a bottom points variable. Each line will contain data for a bottom classification and can include:

  • No.
  • Date/Time (YYYY-MM-DD/HH:MM:SS)
  • Latitude (degrees)
  • Longitude (degrees)
  • Altitude (m)
  • Depth (m)
  • Class+
  • Bottom_roughness_normalized
  • Bottom_hardness_normalized*
  • First_bottom_length_normalized
  • Second_bottom_length_normalized*
  • Bottom_rise_time_normalized
  • Bottom_line_depth_mean
  • Bottom_max_Sv (dB)
  • Bottom_kurtosis
  • Bottom_skewness

Notes:

  • The table displays extracted (user specified) bottom features.
  • *The Bottom_hardness_normalized and the Second_botttom_length_normalized are based on a existence and measurability of the second bottom echo.
  • +Modify a bottom point's Class by selecting a different class from the Class list. An exported bottom points file outputs a Class_name and Class_ID.

To view a table:

  1. Select the variable in the raw variables section of the Filesets window.
  2. Click Table.

  1. On the View menu, point to Table.
  2. Click the relevant variable.

- OR -

  1. On the Dataflow window, click a variable and use Shortcut menu > Table.

To export a table:

Tip

Display a table next to the relevant cruise track or echogram. Double-click a table row to view the corresponding data point on the cruisetrack or echogram.
