Creating new virtual variables

Complete the following steps to create a new virtual variable.

  1. Click Dataflow variables and geometry window tool to display the Dataflow window.
  2. On the Shortcut (right-click) menu, point to New then click Variable.
    The New variable dialog box will appear.
  3. Type a name in the Name text box (or accept the default).
  4. Choose an operator.
  5. Click OK and the Variable Properties dialog box will automatically open at the Operands page.
  6. Choose the operand(s) for creating the virtual variable
    Note:
    When an operator requires two or more operands for input, only pings with the same ping geometry will be used to create the virtual variable. See Using multiple operands for more information.
  7. Set variable properties as necessary.

Deleting virtual variables

Complete the following steps to delete a virtual variable.

  1. Click Dataflow variables and geometry window tool to display the Dataflow window.
  2. Click the virtual variable you wish to delete.
  3. On the Dataflow menu, choose Delete

Note: Delete is not be available if the selected variable is a raw variable.

Complete the following steps to delete all virtual variables.

  1. Click Dataflow variables and geometry window tool to display the Dataflow window.
  2. On the Dataflow menu, click Delete All Virtual Variables.
  3. Note: This will also delete any unavailable virtual variables imported with a Template.
