About on screen analyses

On screen analysis types

Refer to the settings on the analysis page of the Variable Properties dialog box that affect your results, and the settings on the Export page of the EV File Properties dialog box to configure your analysis export results.

The results from any analysis is restricted to the analysis domain overlapping with any transects in an assigned transect group. Refer to Transects and export analyses for more details.

Notes:

  • *Echoview may also display extracted features when bottom point export variables are selected. The quality of the extracted features relies on the suitability of the bottom line, the overlap of the selection/region/cell with the first and second bottom echoes, the quality of the Bottom echo threshold at 1m and the suitability of the Feature Extraction Interval. Bottom calculations ignore the use of the bottom line as an Exclude below line. Bottom calculations consider data from the pings that intersect the region, cell or selection. For more information refer to Configuring a bottom classification.
  • Vessel log based distance calculations are now extrapolated without a limit. In Echoview 13.1 and earlier, extrapolation was limited to 30 seconds of ping data. The updated behavior now matches the extrapolation that is applied to GPS-derived distances. The change in behavior may affect vessel log distance calculations (including distance-based cell boundaries).
  • An empty transect group can return a null for on screen analysis. Refer to Transects and export analyses for more details.

May be synchronized/auto-synchronized with the bottom points cruise track.

Is synchronized with the bottom points table.

You can also use Graphs to analyze data on screen. See About Graphs for further information.

The Details dialog box is also available for analyzing individual samples or single targets on echograms.

The Copy feature is available for onscreen results. Under the Essentials module license multi-selection Copy and Select All become available.

Constraints in rendering on screen analysis results

Note that on screen hatching may not always accurately represent the cells, ping samples or other parts of an echogram included in the analysis computation. This stems from technical constraints in rendering the result, for example when discontinuities arise in the ping time intervals, or when exclusion lines are involved. Hence, beyond a visual inspection of your onscreen analysis, refer to the details of the algorithm for the analysis for a precise description of the computation.

Refer to integration cues and outcomes - examples for more information.
